For "HARD GAINERS," or Ectomorph… you will workout on one body part each day for six days. During this period of time your workout plan does not include any cardio. We will call this the bulking up phase. You will train one body part per day using as much resistance as you can handle. Be prepared to be sore everyday. Having a training partner, that can workout with you either at home or at the gym will help you in maintaining your motivation to complete this program. I do recommend that you cut out some pictures of bodybuilders, fitness models or even Ryan Reynolds to use as motivation for the next 13 weeks.

There Are 3 Phases to This Program:

1. Bulking up Phase

In this phase, you will be using mostly compound exercise movements. Perform 2 to 3 warm-up sets then four sets of each exercise. The rep range will be between 8 to 10 repetitions per set. Use as much weight or resistance as you can handle in each set. Make sure you go to failure on every exercise.

2. High-Intensity Phase

In the high-intensity phase, you will begin to use a training protocol called "Super Sets." A superset is when you train two opposing muscle groups one after the other. For your arm workout, you would do a set of biceps curls and then immediately proceed to do a set of triceps extensions. That counts as one complete set. In between sets rest for only one minute.

3. Leaning out Phase

In this phase, your diet will begin to change and your rep range will be between 12 and 15 repetitions per exercise. In this phase, your carbohydrate intake will be reduced so you will not be able to use as much weight or resistance as you did in the first two phases. The goal of this phase is to retain the muscle mass that you put on while reducing your body fat levels in getting you to a point where you have six pack abs.

If you utilize these three strategies along with a complete training program, you will have no difficulty in obtaining your goal of putting on 20 pounds of muscle mass. The Ryan Reynolds workout plan is just another way to achieve this goal.
